Nairobi, Kenya’s largest and the capital city is rich in colonial history. The British of East Africa were the initial rulers of this place. At present, some of the top historical sites of Kenya lie in Nairobi along with some stunning wildlife attractions. The Nairobi National Park, the Nairobi National Museum and the Karen Blixen Museum deserve special mention in this regard.
The Nairobi National Park is now famous as a sanctuary for the black rhino. Other specimens of African wildlife include leopard, buffalo, cheetah, hippos, elephant, and zebras. If you want to experience the remains of Kenyan culture, nature, contemporary art and history, under one roof, the Nairobi National Museum is the perfect place. The Karen Blixen Museum is the restored abode of the author Isak Dinesen, who penned down Out of Africa.
Another destination is the Giraffe center located 20 kilometers away from the center of Nairobi. To protect the endangered Giraffe of East Africa this place was established. Here you can find numerous breeding pairs of Rothschild Giraffe into this nature sanctuary.
You can also go for a free tour to visit baby elephants. There is a baby elephant orphanage in Kenya to take care of the baby elephants which are orphaned due to poacher attacks. 11 AM to 12 PM is the only time you can see the elephants.
Apart from wildlife tour Nairobi also offers you a great city tour which includes Nairobi Snake Park, Nairobi National Museum, and Capital’s shopping places, street markets, Nairobi character, and many more places. So whether you are just beginning your tour or planning for a return trip spend one or two days to enjoy the city attraction.
Another fun place to visit is the Crocodile center. The only day is Sunday to visit and enjoy the thrilling experience of the crocodiles.
